Having joined Wilson Gunn in 2007, Marc Lewis has over 15 years’ experience in the IP profession. He was made a partner in the firm in 2017. Being qualified and experienced in patents, trade marks and designs, Marc is well-placed to ensure all the bases are covered when advising clients on protection for their branding and innovations.
Marc deals with a broad range of patent work, with a particular emphasis in the medical and chemical sectors. His work spans all aspects of patent matters, from the drafting and prosecution of patent applications to advising on issues of infringement and enforcement. He has developed considerable expertise in advising clients on protecting inventions for medical devices and compositions.
Marc is a tutor for the University of Strasbourg training course for European Patent Attorneys.
Marc manages and maintains global trade mark portfolios for a number of the firm’s key clients. A significant proportion of Marc’s work involves advising clients seeking to oppose conflicting trade marks in the UK and overseas.
He has particular expertise of the intricacies of the Chinese trade mark system, including registration, opposition and cancellation procedures.
Marc has regularly advised on the protection and enforcement of designs, with particular experience in the fields of sports technology, medical devices and beverage packaging. Marc also advises on copyright matters and has experience in registering copyright in overseas territories as a means of strengthening an IP portfolio.
