Adam Coulson joined Wilson Gunn in 2014 and is a qualified Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. Prior to joining Wilson Gunn, Adam spent over a year working in industry.

Patents

Adam has worked with clients of all sizes, ranging from individuals and start-ups to universities and multinationals. He has experience in a broad range of fields, including food chemistry, medical devices and compositions, materials science, consumer products, mechanical engineering, industrial processes, chemical composites, and alternative energy products.

Adam has experience in all aspects of patent matters, from drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the UK and internationally to advising on contentious matters relating to patent infringement and validity.

Adam has represented some of the firm’s key clients before the European Patent Office in oppositions and appeals, and before the UK Intellectual Property Office in patent prosecution hearings.

For his final year dissertation, Adam conducted research into the design of metal complexes with organic multidentate ligands for use in photovoltaic cells.

Adam handles design portfolios for several multinational and SME clients. He has experience in filing and prosecuting registered design applications in the UK and overseas, together with advising on the infringement and validity of registered designs.
