Jonathan joined Wilson Gunn in 2018 and is qualified as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney.

Patents

Jonathan Hayton graduated from Lancaster University with both a master’s and Ph.D. in physics. He studied a range of topics including nanoscale structures, cryogenics, semiconductor devices, lasers and quantum computing. His Ph.D. was in partnership with industry and involved the growth and testing of IR LEDs for night vision applications, specifically those made from III-V semiconductor materials. Following his Ph.D., Jonathan continued in semiconductor research working on both fundamental growth technologies and IR detectors.

Jonathan has retained an interest in semiconductor technology but has experience in a broad range of fields, including medical devices, automotive and offshore infrastructure. Jonathan has worked with a range of clients from entrepreneurs to universities and large multi-national companies, drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and internationally.
