Jonathan joined Wilson Gunn in 2018 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2022. He continues to work towards qualification as a Chartered Patent Attorney. Prior to joining Wilson Gunn, Jonathan worked for a firm of accountants where he helped regional businesses identify and submit R&D Tax Relief claims.
Jonathan assists in the drafting and prosecution of applications for a wide range of clients, from small SMEs to multinationals. He has experience in the automotive sector, secure communications, mechanical engineering, oil and gas, and consumer products.
As part of his physics degree, Jonathan studied a range of topics including nanoscale structures, cryogenics, semiconductor devices, lasers and quantum computing. His Ph.D. was in partnership with industry and involved the growth and testing of IR LEDs for night vision applications, specifically those made from III-V semiconductor materials. Following his Ph.D., Jonathan continued in semiconductor research working on both fundamental growth technologies and IR detectors.
