Regan Gourley

Regan Gourley joined Wilson Gunn in 2019 after moving to the UK and is working towards qualification as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney. Prior to joining Wilson Gunn, Regan was the CEO of Cullens, an Australian firm of patent and trade mark attorneys.

Regan is a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney, a registered Australian Trade Mark Attorney and a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia.

Patents

Over almost 20 years of practice, Regan has worked with clients of all sizes, ranging from individuals and start-ups to universities and multinationals. He has experience in a broad range of fields, including materials science, consumer products, fastening systems, mechanical engineering, mechanical devices, alternative energy devices and systems and computer implemented inventions in the area of financial systems, processing systems and methodologies.

Regan has extensive experience in drafting and prosecution of patent applications for filing in Australia and internationally. He also has experience in management of large patent portfolios for clients across multiple jurisdictions, patent oppositions before the Australian Patent Office and advice work relating to patent infringement and validity, particularly in Australia and New Zealand.

Trade Marks

Regan also has extensive experience with trademarks, particularly in Australia and New Zealand and has provided strategic advice on and managed large international trade mark portfolios as well as trademark applications for individual applicants.

Designs & Copyright

Over the course of Regan’s almost 20 years in practice, he has filed many design applications, in Australia and New Zealand as well as overseas and has also provided numerous validity and infringement opinions taking into account the overlap between design protection and copyright protection.
