EUIPO declares Banksy’s ‘Flower Thrower’ trade mark invalid
The famous graffiti artist’s trade mark was cancelled on the grounds that it was filed in bad faith.
We are pleased to announce that we have expanded our patents team by appointing experienced Chartered and European Patent Attorney Mark Jolly as a Senior Associate.
After graduating from Manchester University, Mark worked in London for ten years for a private practice IP firm before recently returning to the North West. Mark’s focus is patent and design work with specific experience including fuel-cell catalysts, pharmaceuticals, materials and process chemistry. He also has notable experience in engineering and electronics, working for multinational conglomerates to protect their patents and other IP rights.
James Robey, Partner at Wilson Gunn, commented, “Mark is a really positive addition to our growing patents team. His experience on both the chemistry and engineering side is something I know will benefit our clients particularly in the automotive, healthcare and food technology sectors. He has an enviable record in direct advocacy having various successes at the European Patent Office and has significant experience of contentious work relating to patent infringement and validity.
“Mark joins us at an exciting time as we plan and look forward to the future while celebrating the past with our 150th anniversary this year. We are proud to have started in Manchester back in 1864 and we’re still here, albeit in a bigger office, to this day. There could not be a better time to welcome Mark into the firm.”
