Two Wilson Gunn clients win Queen’s Awards for Innovation

We share the news that two of our clients have won this prestigious award.

Two Wilson Gunn clients have been announced as the 2017 recipients of Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2017 – the most prestigious business award for UK companies.

The Queen’s Awards, published each year to mark the Queen’s birthday on 21 April, were given to 176 businesses this year for outstanding achievement in international trade, innovation, sustainable development or promotion opportunity (through social mobility), with just under 60 awards given in the category of innovation.

Carbon8 Systems was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2017 for their unique treatment for industrial wastes and contaminated soils, using carbon dioxide, to manufacture construction products. www.c8s.co.uk

Mastaplasta was one of only five companies to receive the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2017 for both Innovation and International Trade after creating the first-ever self-adhesive leather repair patch – a band-aid for sofas, car seats, bags, jackets. They are the smallest and youngest company to achieve this double success. www.mastaplasta.com

Mark Jolly, Partner at Wilson Gunn who works with both clients, commented: “It is fantastic to see these two companies acknowledged for their innovations. By protecting their intellectual property, they have been able to commercialise their technology and significantly grow their business. We look forward to seeing what they achieve next. Congratulations to them both!”
