Unsolicited letters from Stern Young & Partners

A warning regarding unsolicited renewal reminders from a firm called Stern Young & Partners.

We have received reports of our clients receiving unsolicited renewal reminders from a firm of attorneys called Stern Young & Partners.

If you receive a letter from Stern Young & Partners alerting you to a trade mark renewal, we would advise you to ignore the letter.

This type of unsolicited correspondence has become a common occurrence in the industry. Firms like Stern Young & Partners use publicly available information to alert trade mark owners to marks which need to be renewed in the future. Whilst this is a legitimate practice, they often significantly overcharge you for the cost of the renewal.

The Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) has previously published an example of a letter they received from Stern Young & Partners.
