Birmingham grew to international fame in the late 18th century at the heart of the Midlands Enlightenment and subsequent Industrial Revolution. The scientists, engineers and industrialists of Birmingham achieved globally important developments in technology and economic organisation, producing a series of critical innovations that laid many of the foundations of modern industrial society.
In 1884, Henry Skerrett set up as a patent agent and consulting engineer in the city. Wilson Gunn acquired the firm in 1998 and has continued to grow the client base and help businesses in the Midlands to protect their intellectual property.
