Celebrating 150 years of protecting ideas

This year we are delighted to be celebrating our 150th anniversary since opening our first office in 1864.

Our 150th anniversary is marked by a celebration of the past, whilst shining a spotlight on the future.

Our illustrious past is signified by the launch of a website that is dedicated to our most significant historical events, from whistles used on the Titanic, for which we obtained the patent, to the devastation that struck our offices when we were hit by the IRA Manchester city centre bombing in 1996.

As part of our celebrations we are running a free prize draw to win four prizes worth over £1000. These prizes are particularly special as they are some of the top 2014 British inventions shortlisted by the Gadget Show Live, British Inventors’ Project 2014*.

Prize draw worth over £1000

This free prize draw will give away a stylish hummingbird corkscrew, bath toy, beach towel/bag and an amazing folding bike, worth £900, which can be packed away and towed easily like a wheelie suitcase.

Four innovative prizes to giveaway in September to December

Partner hails clients and staff for the firm’s success

Partner, James Robey, commented, “It’s an exciting time to be part of Wilson Gunn in such a significant year. When I joined Wilson Gunn 18 years ago, straight from university, it was clear that trainee recruitment was a focus, with tailored development and training. I have never looked back.

“We pride ourselves on our friendly customer-focused approach, which has resulted in long-lasting close relationships with many of our clients. In addition, we are working with some very exciting newer clients who are building great IP in the UK and around the world. Although a significant proportion of our work is international, our roots are in the UK and so our draw to celebrate British innovation really fits with what we stand for.

“When asked what has been the key to our longevity, I have to say that a huge part is owed to our dedicated staff, whose work ethic combined with experience and fresh talent make for a truly remarkable team. 150 years is a great landmark in our history which we intend to celebrate.”
