Brand-i : the anti-counterfeiting directory
Posted in | Feb 11, 2013
As a manufacturer of branded products, how can you ensure that consumers know where to buy your authentic products online?
You can use Brand-i, a website set up by Trading Standards in the UK to ensure that consumers can buy authentic goods from authorised online stockists for key counterfeit goods.
Brand owners populate the website with links to authorized stockists of their goods, which consumers can then use to ensure they are buying genuine goods.
The website also features a “Report a Site” feature where consumers can report suspicious websites. Brand owners have access to the Report A Site queries and can take appropriate action to stop any counterfeit sales, if necessary.
The site has been up and running for around 18 months now, and has attracted an impressive range of brand names, currently 39, including Ted Baker, Jimmy Choo, Adidas, the FA, Chanel and even the MHRA (Medicines Healthcare Regulatory Authority).
If you are a brand owner and suffer from counterfeit goods issues, you can apply to become a member of Brand-i by emailing email@example.com.
