Recruitment

Graduate Recruitment

Wilson Gunn typically recruits one or two graduate trainees a year, to train as patent and/or trade mark attorneys.

The firm has a commitment to training through a close working relationship between trainee and designated partner, as well as through internal and external courses and seminars. All graduate trainees start in our Manchester office, and remain there for a period of at least one year.

Applications

Our recruitment of graduate trainees is ongoing and we welcome applications at any time.

For trainee patent attorneys we generally seek candidates with a broad based technical background. A good (2.1 or higher) degree in chemistry, physics, electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline is essential. Most attorneys in the firm deal with a broad range of technical subject matter and an ability to understand subject matter outside your own specialist area is important. Patent trainees also have the opportunity to train as trade mark attorneys. Occasionally we recruit a specific trade mark trainee, and for this will consider applicants with either a scientific or legal background, again with a relevant degree of class 2.1 or higher. For all trainees good communication skills are essential, especially an excellent command of English.

If you are interested in joining us please send your CV, with a covering letter, to James Robey ( ) at our Manchester office.

As we generally receive a large number of applications we regret that we are not always able to acknowledge them.
