Jonathan Caruana M.A. (Cantab), M.Eng., Ph.D.

Jonathan Caruana graduated with a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Cambridge in 2002. He then completed a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at University College London, focusing on the design and fixation of hip replacements, for which he was awarded the Institution of Mechanical Engineers' prize for Best Recent Medical Engineering PhD Thesis in 2008. His postdoctoral research at UCL's Institute of Orthopaedics involved design optimisation of skin-penetrating amputee prostheses and instrumented tibial nails for monitoring fracture healing.

Jonathan joined Wilson Gunn in 2010 having started his training as a patent attorney with another private practice firm. His experience includes automotive and aerospace technologies, mining and machine tools, textiles, biomedical and audio devices, optics and imaging technologies, and computer systems. He is currently training to qualify as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney.
