David Slattery M.Phys.

Chartered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, Registered Trade Mark Attorney, European Trade Mark and Design Attorney

David Slattery has a first class masters degree in physics from Manchester University. David joined Wilson Gunn in 2001, after beginning his training in private practice with another firm. He obtained the Manchester University Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, and was awarded the AstraZeneca prize for best overall performance. David went on to qualify as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney, and specialises in semiconductor technology, imaging and optics, low temperature physics, lasers and laser spectroscopy. His practice also encompasses fields such as mass spectrometry, telecommunications technology, data networks, and digital and analogue electronics. In addition, David has considerable experience in prosecuting patents for inventions that lie at the boundaries of subject-matter protectable by patents, including computer software, business methods and games.

Beyond standard prosecution work, he has significant experience of direct advocacy at hearings before the UK Patent Office. David also has experience of patent hearings before the European Patent Office and the UK High Court.  David also advises upon trade mark and design matters.  He is a Member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and is qualified as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney and as a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney.
