Chris McDonald graduated from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in chemistry with a European language (German) and spent a year of his degree course studying at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria. He subsequently obtained a PhD from the University of Manchester investigating the synthesis and electronic properties of diarsine complexes of transition metals. Following that, he worked as a Patent Examiner at the European Patent Office in Munich for a number of years, gaining experience on the “other” side of the profession, before returning to England to begin his training to qualify as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney with another firm, and joined Wilson Gunn in January 2008. Chris has expertise relating to all areas of chemistry, such as organic and inorganic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, polymers, catalysts, pesticides and cosmetics, and has experience of EPO examination and opposition proceedings from both sides of the fence. As a result of his two periods of living abroad, he is also fluent in German. Chris is a qualified European Patent Attorney.
